August 2010 - In this issue:
Viewing US
Homeopathic Education Through an International Lens
AMCH
attended the
The Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis (LIGA)
conference in May of this year and had a booth there. I
presented a lecture on the status of Homeoapthic
education in the US.
LIGA is the largest homeopathic organization in the
world today and its purpose is “ . . . the development
and securing of Homeopathy worldwide . . . the creation
of a link . . . between societies and persons who are
interested in homeopathy.”
Feedback at the conference was very positive about the
new initiatives at AMCH in creating its doctoral
program. Many compared this effort to similar doctoral
programs elsewhere in the world. In addition, there was
significant positive feedback about the recent efforts
of the Council on Homeopathic Education to revise and
update the national homeopathic educational standards.
The North American Network of Homeopathic Educators is
also working to improve faculty training and to set up
national homeopathic research standards. There was
much excitement that the US was moving to bring
homeopathic education to a stronger and more
professional level.
In the international community, there is a general
perception that the US is a world leader. US policies
have significant impact on the world politically,
strategically and symbolically. Positive changes in
healthcare policy in the US have significant effects on
healthcare policy worldwide.
Concerns have been expressed for decades that US
homeopathic education does not meet the same standards
and quality of homeopathic education found elsewhere in
the world. For the US to be more included within the
world homeopathic community, it must raise itself to
similar standards of education and practice. The
homeopathic educational standards conference in Toronto
this Fall is an important step in this direction.
Homeopathic education in the United States is changing
and growing.
Change is inevitable and the homeopathic profession
needs to keep growing and become more part of the world
homeopathic community. Only in this way can
homeopathic medicine take its rightful place as one of
the leading health care modalities of the future.

7. New Honorary Board Members
AMCH has added three new members to its Honorary Board (www.amcofh.org/documents/honorary-board-members.pdf):
Sunil Anand MD, Divya Chabra and Massimo Mangialavori
MD. We wish to express gratitude for their willingness
to give their names in support of our organization.
Sunil Anand MD is a leading Classical
Homoeopathic Practitioner and Teacher now based in Pune,
India. He has practiced homoeopathy for the past 20
years and is specially recognized for his cures in
pediatric cases. His approach and simplicity makes him
an internationally acclaimed teacher. His seminars and
workshops have been widely attended both on India and
abroad. His Recent Workshop for the Students & Doctors
from South Africa was well received. Associated with the
C.M.P. Homoeopathic Medical College Mumbai &
Presently an honorary visiting professor in D.S
Homoeopathic Medical College Pune.
Divya Chhabra was born in Pune, India on May 17,
1967. She has been practicing classical homoeopathy in
Mumbai, India, for the past ten years. Dr. Chhabra
graduated from Smt. Chandaben Mohanbhai Patel
Homoeopathic Medical College, Mumbai, in 1989, and began
her practice in 1992. Dr. Chhabra has been teaching in
India and abroad for the last seven years and has
lectured in various parts of the world such as
Switzerland, Germany, Austria, England, Ireland,
Belgium, Holland, Greece, the Slovakia Republic,
Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. and Canada. She has
conducted provings of several remedies including
Magnesia sulphurica, Thea, Citrus, Lac Felinum, Lac
Rhesus, Tungsten, Lac Defloratum, Lac Humanum, Eagle,
and Bat. She has also conducted a potency proving with
two well-proven polycrest remedies, Calcarea carbonicum
and Natrum muriaticum, in potencies from 30 to 50 M.
Her work has helped further our understanding of more
accurately selecting potencies. Dr. Chhabra is well
known for her brilliant style of case taking in which
she follows the thread of every important symptom
beautifully to reach the core feeling state of the
individual. She has been artfully employing a technique
called "free association" in her case taking method that
enables one to reach through the subconscious level of
dreams to the deep seated core delusion which manifests
as the symptoms of imbalance and illness Presently, she
is working on three books, including one on her provings,
another on her experience in practice including free
association, use of potencies, etc., and, most recently,
a book on her advances in the understanding of the
materia medica of the periodic table of the elements.
Massimo Mangialavori was born in the city of
Naples, Italy on Nov. 30, 1958, growing up first in
Milan, and then from 1966 in Modena, where he has lived
and worked ever since. Mangialavori qualified as a
doctor in 1984, and then specialized in Food Sciences at
the University of Modena, under Professor Nino
Battistini, gaining his diploma in 1987. His thesis was
on the effects of fasting in human beings. He studied
medical anthropology from the beginning of his
university career, and out of this grew an interest in
traditional forms of medicine. This in turn led him to
dedicate himself entirely to classical homeopathy, which
he has been practicing since 1985 He attended some
courses in homeopathy in Italy, as well as various
seminars throughout Europe, but remained rather
dissatisfied. Only after meeting Dr Giovanni Marotta of
Roma, and the years of study and reflection that they
spent together, did he continue his work with
enthusiasm. He then developed a personal methodology for
the study and application of homeopathy. For the past
few years, Dr. Mangialavori has been sharing this with
various groups of colleagues, both in Italy and abroad.
In 1991 he began to teach, thanks to invitations from
Dr. Hans Zwemke of Berlin, and from colleagues in the
Dutch Homeopathic Society, chiefly Dr Cees Baas and Dr
Fernand Debats.
